Short
Stories in Synthesis
Dr
Mick Sherburn
School of Chemistry
The University
of Sydney
The talk will detail new
and efficient methods for the preparation of diverse classes of molecules
with unprecedented structures and important functions - from compounds
of medicinal importance based on natural products, to structures of theoretical
importance, to new host-guest systems. The underlying theme of the talk
involves the development of domino reaction sequences - a cost- and resource-effective
strategy promoting brevity in synthesis.
